Princess Kate was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year
Princess Kate has undoubtedly faced one of her hardest years yet after in January and being just a short time after.
While the princess, 42, announced in September that she had and was planning a gradual return to royal duties, the Princess of Wales is still being required to prioritise her health as she continues to recover from the disease.
Although the mum-of-three is likely to have struggled at times this year, as she mentioned in released in September, one royal expert believes there was one simple thing that she relied on to help her recovery.
Author Christopher Anderson – who has written many royal biographies – told that being able to do normal things would have helped her feel better during her cancer battle.
This involves being able to look after her children and spending time with them as she usually does.

Mr Anderson said: “Since Kate’s cancer diagnosis, the children have been more sensitive to their mother’s needs for a little more peace and quiet than usual.
“But their overall family dynamic – the hectic schedule of school, after-class activities, birthday parties, and play dates that fill the calendar – hasn’t changed. That continuing sense of normalcy has without doubt been key to Kate’s recovery.”
Although the princess and her renewed focus on love and the “simple things” in life, Kate has not spoken much about what has gone on behind closed doors.

On , the prince spoke out about the tough year and admitted it had been “brutal” for the family.
The future King told the British Press that he is “proud” of his wife and his father King Charles, who was also diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.
He said: “I’m so proud of my wife, I’m proud of my father, for handling the things that they have done. But from a personal family point of view, it’s been, yeah, it’s been brutal.”
Princess Kate is next expected to be seen in public at on December 6.
