The beautiful port city of Malaga, in ‘s Costa del Sol, is a popular summer for Brits. The city is known for its incredible high-rise hotels and resorts as well as its many sandy beaches.
This summer, the city broke a record. According to Euro Weekly News, saw a huge 6.2 million tourists between the months of May and August alone.
However, Malaga does have more to offer than beach holidays later on in the year. Believe it or not, the summer hotspot is also a great choice to visit during the winter – especially the festive season.
Malaga is home to incredible an – the Christmas Market at Paseo del Parque – and a stunning light display that isn’t worth missing out on.
The market has so much to offer – from Santa’s Grotto to local shops and traditional Christmas treats.

What also makes it great is that while the UK is battling with plummeting temperatures, Malaga experiences temperatures between 13 and 18C in December, so it’s a great chance to escape from the freezing temperatures and experience Christmas somewhere a tad warmer.
The streets of Malaga are decorated with , wickerwork figures and poinsettias and throughout the city various groups and associations place incredible Nativity scenes to really highlight the festive cheer.
Malaga’s Christmas markets are labelled as some of the best in Spain. Thousands of people gather in Calle Larios, waiting to watch the Christmas lights switch on, which marks the beginning of the festive season.

The display features 16 celestial angels across 32 columns stretched along the entire length of the street and every evening, the light and sound shows take place at 6:30 pm, 8pm and 10pm.
The Christmas lights display will kick off Christmas in Malaga by switching from November 29 right to January 6, while the Christmas market tend to remain open until early January.
So don’t wait for summer to come along to visit Malaga, when there’s so much to experience towards the end of the year.
