Jack Lisowski was in fantastic form on Sunday
Jimmy White urged Jack Lisowski to watch his round of 16 victory on Sunday (November 24) against back, citing how it was some of the best snooker he has ever seen the 33-year-old play. Lisowski bested Thor Chuan Leong and Bai Yulu in his qualification games for the UK Championships, before turning his attention to world no.4 Selby at York Barbican.
Lisowski found himself 3-0 behind to the two time champion with just six points to his name, as Selby dominated in the early stages of the match – bagging two centuries in impeccable form. Never one to give up without a fight, Lisowski won six of the next seven frames to take a 6-4 win, and he will meet Ali Carter in the quarter finals of the tournament.
Watching the action unfold from the studio, Jimmy White and agreed that Liswoski had one of the best performances of his career during the match. And when he was probed on the legendary opinions afterwards, Lisowski explained: “Yeah, it probably is.
“It probably is in terms of the safety and how Mark didn’t completely blow me away tactically. So yeah, I didn’t know what to expect this week but obviously my game is pretty good.” The interviewer then told Lisowski that Jimmy had urged him to watch the game back and reflect on his outstanding performance, to which, Lisowski laughed: “Well yeah, he’s told me to so I’ve got to do that haven’t I?
“Don’t want to annoy Jimmy. Yeah, I’ll have a little look back and obviously it’ll be a nice watch. It’s better than watching yourself lose anyway.” Lisowski currently finds himself at 21st in the World Snooker Rankings.
His next opponent at the UK Championships comes in the form of world no. 12 Carter – who blitzed through Ryan Day 6-4 in his own respective opener of the tournament. A win on Wednesday (November 27) will see him take on the victor of Mark Allen’s game against Yize Wu.
