I’m A Celebrity hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly were left in disbelief on Monday’s episode as Dean McCullough broke a show trend.

Only recently, the contestant has found himself facing the dreaded Bushtucker Trials but has failed to secure any or many stars for his campmates.

Last week, Dean took on the Sinister Sarcophagus but soon shouted the famous words: “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!” while in another instance Dean also participated in Drown in the Dumps with GK Barry but the duo didn’t manage to get a single star.

However, things changed on Monday night as Dean faced his sixth Bushtucker Trial, Jack and the Scream Stalk, where he took on a heights trial which included a large beanstalk and a castle.

They explained how there were 12 numbered stars up for grabs, which Dean would need to collect, in order, within a 12 minute timeframe. He would start by climbing up the beanstalk, collecting stars as he went. When he got to the top of the beanstalk, and to the highest point in the Trial, he had to collect and assemble the golden egg, before moving to the castle to collect the rest of the stars.

As he made his way up the beanstalk, Dean had to put his hand in various hell holes containing the likes of green ants, cockroaches, giant mealworms and spiders to collect each star. Next up, he had to piece together the golden egg which constituted star number five.

Finally, he had to conquer the castle, where the remaining seven stars were up for grabs, with Dean needing to climb the castle wall to reach each of the hell holes.

However, as Dean grew higher up the castle wall and it began to tip, he ran out of strength to hold on, meaning he let go of the hand holds, where he dramatically fell and lost out on the final two stars.

Hosts Ant and Dec were left in disbelief over the achievement as they gave Dean a round of applause at his personal best score of 10 out of 12 stars. Meanwhile, an elated Dean made his way back to camp to let them know the good news.

It comes as Dean was defended by his best friend, Rachel Todd, on Thursday’s episode of Lorraine over his lack of winning stars and Bushtucker Trials success.

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! airs every night at 9pm on ITV1, STV and ITV X.
