Dutch Royal Family issue statement after Max Verstappen wins another F1 title

The Dutch Royal Family issued a statement in the wake of ’s title-winning moment at the , congratulating the 27-year-old on his fourth Drivers’ Championship crown.

Verstappen finished fifth on the Las Vegas tarmac – one spot ahead of title rival – thus generating the points swing needed to seal the deal with two rounds to spare. Despite winning just one of the last 12 Grands Prix, the driver’s immense damage limitation work has kept ’s man at arm’s length.

In a statement released on social media, the Dutch Royal Family wrote: “With great pleasure, we congratulate on the fourth consecutive world title in Formula One!

“Despite a difficult start this weekend in Las Vegas, he drove a solid race and stayed well ahead of his closest competitor. Together with his team, he showed experience and quality. With two races to go, he has already extended his world title. Congratulations again on this impressive achievement!”

The Dutch Royal Family weren’t the only ones to recognise how impressive Verstappen’s feat was. The driver spent nearly the entire campaign without the fastest car, but when he did have supreme machinery during the first five races, he maximised it, locking out the first seven pole positions of the season and winning all events he finished.

Discussing his driver’s latest crowning moment, team principal said: “This marks the culmination of an epic campaign and a fantastic win for Max. Not just today but throughout an uncompromising year and at times without the necessary tools at his disposal.

“He has inspired in the cockpit but out of it also. The way he has conducted himself and the way he has worked with the engineers and wider team has been phenomenal. Together with 2021, this was one of the toughest years the Team have experienced.

“But Max has once again elevated himself to another level of exceptionalism. He’s won more than double the races of any other driver, mounting a formidable campaign and at times having to overcome insurmountable margins.

“On the days when we didn’t deliver a win or when he had everything thrown at him, he has still delivered points. He has been extraordinary.”

Verstappen will be challenged when he looks to defend his crown in 2025, though. and have been the two strongest teams since the summer break, and both have their sights set on the title next year. With at their current performance level, there will be little that the reigning champion can do to fight back.
