Sir ’s Government represents a threat to national security, former head of MI6 Sir Richard Dearlove has claimed, branding the policies of senior figures, including Energy Secretary Ed Miliband, “mad” and “deeply worrying”.
Sir Richard accused the government of failing to prioritise military readiness amid Europe’s worst security crisis in decades, declaring: “We’ve seen critical equipment cut to save money.
“They say it’s outdated, but you don’t make those decisions when the threat is this severe.
“Defence should be at the very top of the government’s agenda, even above the NHS, but it isn’t.”
He also highlighted concerns over ’s energy policy, calling it “a vital part of national security”.

Sir Richard told ‘s Camilla Tominey: “Instead of using our own resources, we’re following a crazy plan under Ed Miliband. We need independence.
“That means considering options like fracking and ensuring we have cheap, reliable energy supplies. Labour’s current direction is simply unsustainable.”
With respect to international policy Sir RIchard singled out Foreign Secretary David Lammy, who he suggested would struggle to form a strong relationship with a Trump-led US administration.
Referring to the Tottenham MP’s past criticisms of the President-elect, he explained: “Lammy has too much baggage. He’ll be involved in the special relationship, but not in any meaningful way.”

In an interview with GB News, he also criticised Prime Minister for neglecting domestic issues in favour of overseas travel.
“When Thatcher came into office, she focused on domestic problems first.
“Starmer is jumping on and off planes when there are serious issues at home. It’s ridiculous,”
Dearlove did not hold back in his assessment of Yvette Cooper either, accusing her of lacking clarity and decisiveness.

Drawing attention to the Home Secretary’s refusal to rule out arresting ’s PM Benjamin Netanyahu should he visit the UK, he said: “She just blahed her way through a recent interview.
“It was clear she had no idea what to say.”
The former spy chief warned: “Labour’s record since coming to power is riddled with extraordinary mistakes.
“These aren’t minor issues; they’re matters of national security. The government must urgently rethink its priorities before it’s too late.”
