GTA 6 already winning awards as Rockstar makes bold new claim

It may be roughly a year away from launch, but that hasn’t stopped from already winning a big industry award.

No doubt the first of many awards to come, 6 was voted Most Wanted Game at the recent Golden Joysticks.

Likely to win a similar prize at the upcoming Game Awards, GTA 6 beat the likes of Death Stranding 2, Ghost of Yotei, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Monster Hunter Wilds to scoop the Golden Joystick award.

Needless to say, Grand Theft Auto fans were eager to hear what had to say when accepting the award at this week’s event.

Judging by the latest statement from Rockstar, fans are in for something pretty special when GTA 6 launches in 2025.

A Rockstar Games spokesperson told fans to expect “mind-blowing things” from GTA 6, before potentially teasing an imminent reveal.

“There’s an incredible amount of people doing amazing things on Grand Theft Auto 6, absolutely mind-blowing things,” a spokesperson said.

“It’s an honour to be able to come up here and accept this award on everyone’s behalf. I wish more of us could be here. Thank you very much, everybody, and yeah, more to come.”

Needless to say, the bold claim of “mind-blowing things” to come has left fans desperate for more from the upcoming game.

Fortunately we may not have long to wait, with ahead of release.

In a recent earnings call with investors, Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick once again confirmed that GTA 6 will have an autumn 2025 release date.

With autumn officially running from September until the end of November, we’re now only a maximum of 12 months away from the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6. Let that sink in.

In a follow-up statement, the Take-Two boss also suggested that GTA 6 should run smoothly on Xbox Series S. This led to millions of .

Grand Theft Auto 6 takes place in the state of Leonida, which is based on Florida.

Rockstar explains: “Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet.”

The previously released trailer gives fans a look some of the map locations as seen from the skies above. This includes locations based on the Florida Keys, as well as the beach and more.

The trailer also hints at a , which will up the scale to never-before-seen levels.
