have been revealed, with Bedford train station making an unfortunate appearance three times in the top four of the least punctual services.

According to a study by travel experts at , the 7.30am Bedford to 9.40am Three Bridges service takes the top spot as the worst-performing route .

Only 14% of trains on this arrive on time, despite 95% of the scheduled trains running.

Another Bedford service, the 7.33am to Three Bridges, ranks third, with just 32% of trains arriving on time and 81% of scheduled services operating.

The 7.03am Bedford to 8.59am Three Bridges service also features in fourth place, with an on-time rate of 33%.

Together, these figures paint a dismal picture for commuters relying on Bedford’s rail services.

The second spot is taken by the 5.46pm London Euston to 7.57pm Crewe service, where only 17% of trains arrive punctually, although 93% of scheduled trains do operate.

The study also highlighted issues at major train stations. Birmingham New Street was found to be the least reliable, with just under 40% of trains arriving on time and a five per cent cancellation rate.

Manchester Piccadilly and York followed closely, with 42% of trains arriving punctually and higher-than-average cancellation rates.

In more bad news for travellers based in Bedford, anyone planning to use Thameslink services between London and Bedford over the festive period should prepare for further disruptions.

Engineering works north of St Pancras will halt all trains between St Pancras and Harpenden for nine days, from Saturday, December 21 to Sunday, December 29.

Rail replacement buses will operate but are expected to be extremely busy.

Services to and Luton Airport will also be reduced.

8. 6:14am Stourbridge Junction to 8:42am London Marylebone – 45% of trains on time

9. 6:10am Portsmouth Harbour to 7:54am London Waterloo – 51% of trains on time

10. 7:46am Prince’s Risborough to 8:38am London Marylebone – 73% of trains on time

Passengers are advised to check schedules and plan ahead to avoid delays and overcrowding during the busy holiday season.
