The late Queen has been described as a ‘chocoholic’
The late is said to have had a particularly sweet tooth and has been described by a former royal chef as a “chocoholic”.
Darren McGrady, who worked as a royal chef for 15 years, previously told that anything containing chocolate was her first choice of dessert at the royal palaces.
As a member of the Royal Family, the late Queen enjoyed an array of sweet treats and delicious puddings each day – with a chocolate biscuit cake a “favourite out of all the cakes”.
Speaking to the publication, Mr McGrady said: “She is absolutely a chocoholic. Anything we put on the menu that had chocolate on, she would choose, especially chocolate perfection pie.”
Discussing her favourite biscuit, he added: “The Queen has been eating chocolate biscuit cake for years, and it’s a favourite one out of all the cakes.”

The former royal chef also revealed that when it came to biscuits, her preferred options were “When I was there… Chocolate Bath Olivers.”
Although many other treats were shared out amongst the staff, the chocolate biscuit cake was “different”.
As reported by the , he said: “The chocolate biscuit cake is different. She has a little slice. It comes down to the kitchen and then we keep it safe because it has to go up again tomorrow.
“And it goes up again and again and again and again every day until it’s all gone. Definitely her favourite cake.”
Speaking of the late Queen’s afternoon tea treat every day, he added: “She has a large cake for afternoon tea every day whether it’s a lemon cake, a fruit cake, a ginger cake, a jam and cream sponge, and she’ll take a little slice out and then it goes down to the kitchen and cut up into slices and sent into the staff dining room so it’s not wasted.”
