‘Incredible’ series that fills ‘Office-shaped hole’ streaming for free

An ‘extraordinary’ reality series that viewers are binge-watching in a single night is available to stream for free.

Jury Duty, a unique blend of reality show and mockumentary sitcom, aims to depict the inner workings of a US trial.

However, the proceedings are entirely staged, with all participants being actors – except for one unsuspecting jury member, Ron, a solar contractor from San Diego, who believes everything is genuine.

The series even boasts a high-profile actor, James Marsden, known for his roles in Sonic the Hedgehog, X-Men and Enchanted, playing an exaggerated version of himself.

Originally released in April 2023, the show can be streamed for free on Freevee.

Freevee is an ad-supported streaming platform accessible through the Amazon Prime Video app, offering a constantly updated library of content. Even non-Prime subscribers with an Amazon account can access Freevee’s offerings via the retailer’s video app, reports .

Certain devices, including all Amazon Fire TV devices, iOS and Android mobile devices, PlayStation 5, and many smart TVs, have a separate dedicated Freevee app. Titles can also be streamed via a web browser on the Amazon website.

Reports suggest that the Freevee brand might fade away in time, yet its library is expected to remain accessible through Amazon Prime Video without the need for a premium account.

Originals like Jury Duty on Freevee are making waves, with binge-watchers devouring the series in one go. Some enthusiasts have even looped back to watch it twice consecutively.

Sharing their enthusiasm on Rotten Tomatoes, a fan exclaimed: “I loved it so much! I laughed a lot, cried at the end and had to watch it again cause it was so good!”, while another shared: “This is so laugh out loud funny and unique, it just can’t be missed.”

Followers of beloved sitcoms such as The Office or Parks and Recreation apparently have a new obsession, according to one viewer who raved over its mockumentary approach. They gushed: “This show is an incredible idea. For those of us who loved The Office, Parks and Rec and all those types of shows, this is a must watch. The main character Ronald, a normal guy who’s being tricked to think he’s taking part of a documentary, couldn’t have been more perfect for the show.”

They continued: “The actors are always in character filling in with funny stories even when Ronald is not around, makes it a great way to help understand how he never suspected anything.”

A viewer was clearly impressed with the show, taking to social media to express their newfound obsession: “I never thought that The Office-shaped hole in my heart would ever be filled again until I randomly came across this show. Every episode kept me hooked and I stayed up the entire night binge watching it, when it was over, it left me teary eyed…This is a certified comfort show that I’m sure I’ll be returning to over and over again.”

The series has also been making industrious strides in award circles, garnering a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor for James Marsden’s standout performance, amongst its four Emmy nominations including Casting, Comedy Series, Supporting Actor, and Writing, not to mention securing a prestigious Peabody award.
