BBC Fleabag cast now from Oscar win to co-star relationship

It’s been five years since Fleabag graced our screens, and it’s safe to say the series is sorely missed.

Based on Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s one-woman play of the same name, Fleabag featured the actress as a free-spirited yet angry and confused young woman residing in London. The show was rife with drama, from her tumultuous love life and family relationships to encounters with quirky characters.

Fleabag enjoyed two successful series, earning critical acclaim and viewer popularity. Waller-Bridge bagged a BAFTA for Best Female Comedy Performance for the first series, while the second series garnered 11 Primetime Emmy Award nominations and won six.

Waller-Bridge took home awards for Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actress, and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series.

Despite calls for a third series, Waller-Bridge told The Reporter that she believes Fleabag’s story has concluded, although she may revisit the character in her later years. She expressed pride in her artistic integrity, having initially decided against a second season.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge has since become a prominent figure in the TV and film industry, but what about the rest of the cast since the show ended?

Phoebe Waller-Bridge as Fleabag

The series chronicled the life of Fleabag, a woman grappling with love and grief over her friend Boo.

Fleabag was a hit with critics, earning Waller-Bridge a BAFTA and several award nominations during its run.

Since the conclusion of the show, Waller-Bridge has been the creative force behind the successful drama series Killing Eve, featuring Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer, and also contributed to script revisions for the James Bond film No Time to Die.

Waller-Bridge has also graced the screen in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Solo: A Star Wars Story and His Dark Materials.

Andrew Scott as The Priest

The ‘hot priest’ became an instant hit with Fleabag viewers when he made his debut in the second series. Despite a romantic connection with Fleabag, his devotion to God prevented them from becoming a couple.

Post-Fleabag, Irish actor Andrew Scott has portrayed Colonel John Parray in the series His Dark Materials, Christopher in Black Mirror, Lord Merlin in The Pursuit of Love and Tom Ripley in the drama Ripley.

Scott has also featured in Sam Mendes’ film 1917, All of Us Strangers and is set to star in the upcoming film Blue Moon.

Sian Clifford as Claire

Claire’s relationship with Fleabag was fraught, but over the course of the series, they developed a mutual love and respect. Sian Clifford was awarded the Female Performance In A Comedy Programme at the BAFTAs in 2020.
