The best-selling car in Europe during the first nine months of 2024 was the Dacia Sandero.
Whilst it may seem like the automotive world is growing closer and closer, with large groups often owning multiple car brands, one report has found that most countries tend to prefer different models.
The global motoring analysis company has published a study of the across Europe from January to September 2024, showcasing a wide variety of cars.
According to the study, o was Europe’s best-selling , with 203,743 sold over the nine-month period.
Regularly the cheapest car on sale in the UK, the Sandero offers particularly good value for money. The latest generation of the shares the same platform and mechanicals as the current .
In particular, the Sandero regularly tops the best-sellers list in Germany, Spain, Portugal, and Ireland due to its low retail price and practical amount of interior room.

Another model widely sold throughout Europe is the Renault Clio, with nearly 200,000 examples flying off the forecourts across the continent from January to September 2024.
Part of Renault’s range since 1990, the Clio has matured well, with the fifth generation featuring bold styling, a comprehensive range of powertrains, including an E-Tech hybrid, and impressive levels of standard equipment.
Whilst the Renault Clio is a strong seller throughout Europe, it is particularly popular in Slovenia, where most examples are produced for the continent.

Despite not being sold in most European countries, the Russian Lada Granta also ranked high
The list of best-sellers will be familiar to most UK motorists, with popular models like the Volkswagen Golf, Tesla Model Y, and Toyota Yaris also ranking high.
However, one popular model in some European countries that the UK market does not receive is the Lada Granta, a Russian-made range of saloons and hatchbacks that saw 151,324 sales over the nine months.
Despite a wide variety of sanctions being introduced on the country following its invasion of in early 2022, making it harder to produce and export to foreign markets, the little Lada remains the top seller in its home market.
