ITV I’m A Celebrity’s Dean McCullough defended by best pal after trial disasters

I’m A Celebrity star, Dean McCullough, was defended by his best friend, Rachel Todd, on Thursday’s episode of Lorraine.

Only recently, the contestant has found himself facing the dreaded Bushtucker Trials but has failed to secure any stars for his campmates.

Earlier this week, Dean took on the Sinister Sarcophagus but soon shouted the famous words: “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!” while Dean also participated in Drown in the Dumps with GK Barry but the duo didn’t manage to get a single star.

Appearing on Thursday’s Lorraine, host Lorraine Kelly asked Dean’s best friend Rachel over his lack of winning stars to which Rachel said: “There’s determination there, he wants to do it, he wants to keep the camp happy.

“I believe in him, I really do, he’s had his time, he’s done on his own and with GK, this time tonight he’s doing it on his own. He’s got something in him, he’s got the willpower!”

Later during the chat, host Lorraine asked whether viewers are seeing the real Dean to which Rachel insisted: “100%! He is the most caring person, he is down to earth, he just wants to be with everyone. I’ve known him seven years, he feels like home.

“As you see him bonding with everyone in the camp, he makes you feel at home, at peace!”

It comes as the public have chosen Dean to face his fears in tonight’s Bushtucker Trial, called Lethal Lab.

The celebrities are desperate for stars after a night of rice and beans – but it looks as though things will get heated for Dean as he lashes out at Geordie duo Ant and Dec amid the challenging and disgusting trial.

In the preview for tonight’s episode, the Irish star is seen panicking as he takes on several different containment areas. Dean’s face is placed in a box, and his aim is to try and get as many stars as possible with just his mouth and tongue – all the while creepy crawlies, worms, and cockroaches are piled in on top of him.

A stressed Dean seems like he is having none of Ant and Dec’s banter as he yells: “Don’t tell me anything. Don’t tell me,” as Dec teases what kind of insect friends would be joining him in the boxes.

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! airs every night at 9pm on ITV1, STV and ITV X.
