Met Office issues new 16-hour snow and ice warning – full list of areas hit

Brits woke up to cold temperatures this morning and with set to continue, the has issued a fresh wave of yellow weather warnings.

Temperatures are expected to fall below or close to freezing quite widely across the warning area with icy patches forming.

has warned those in affected areas to be aware of longer journey times and to be cautious of untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

Currently 14 UK regions have been slapped with a yellow weather warning for ice, including most of Scotland, the entirety of Wales and Northern Ireland, as well as part of the north of England and the West Midlands.

Its weather warning is in place for 16 hours with latest updates just released by the , the warning is in place from 4pm tonight until 10am tomorrow.

Newly released weather maps suggest that there is no sign of the snow abating, with the potential for snow to last into the weekend.

The weather warning says people should be aware that some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services. may be present on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths and some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces could occur.
