WNBA fans are convinced has joined Unrivaled after a tantalising announcement. The new 3×3 women’s basketball competition, established by WNBA legends Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, is set to launch in Miami in January with an impressive array of talent, including Clark’s team-mate from Indiana Fever, Lexie Hull.

The likes of Angel Reese, Kelsey Plum, Gray, Arike Ogunbowale, Jewell Loyd, Kate Martin and Brittney Griner will also be involved. Originally intended for 30 players, the league has increased its ranks to 36 after “surpassing initial revenue goals”.

The final line-up will be unveiled today (Wednesday) amid continued rumours that WNBA Rookie of the Year Clark has penned a huge $1million contract. And Unrivaled has fanned the flames with an update about Club Selection.

This announcement, disguised as a jokey excuse note employees could use to skip work, stated: “What might seem like an average Wednesday in November is in fact a momentous occasion for those who follow women’s professional basketball.”

It then intriguingly suggests a leave of absence for staffers between 11am and 11.22am ET. Notably, the number 22 jersey is worn by none other than Clark for Fever.

The letter goes on to state: “Let’s be clear: this is not just another roster announcement. This is the moment that sets the foundation for the inaugural season of the new, star-studded 3V3 league, tipping off on January 17, 2025, in Miami and airing on TNT and Max. If it hasn’t become abundantly clear yet, you may want to consider creating a calendar hold with a reminder for yourself.”

The revelation has basketball enthusiasts eagerly anticipating Clark’s participation. There’s also widespread speculation that A’ja Wilson, another who dons the number 22, will make the final cut.

One fan replied: “CC must be playing. 22 minute video? She has to be playing.” Another asked: “Wait, why is this a 22-minute video???” A third said: “22 minute video is the clue? A’ja and Caitlin?”

A minority of fans raised concerns over Clark’s potential involvement, with one saying: “If Caitlin joins Unrivaled, I will be hugely disappointed. If she gets injured and it interferes with the WNBA 2025 season, I will definitely stop watching the WNBA.”

Earlier this month, addressing the possibility of Clark joining, Unrivaled president Alex Bazzell said: “We’re not applying a full-court press the way people think. We are letting her decompress from basketball.

“She knows that we have a spot for her when she’s ready. We have an obligation to continuously add the best of the best wherever we can.”

If Clark has indeed signed the deal, a $1m contract would significantly surpass her base salary during her rookie season with Indiana, where she earned $76,535. The majority of her income is derived from endorsements with high-profile companies such as Swoosh, State Farm, Gatorade, Wilson, Bose and Buick.
