Immanuel Feyi-Waboso was concussed in England’s clash with Australia
Tom Curry is set to return for England’s showdown with Japan on Saturday, however, Immanuel Feyi-Waboso will not be fit in time for the finale of the Autumn Nations Series at Twickenham.
Both players suffered concussions during the 42-37 loss to Australia in the second match of the series, which saw them miss out on Saturday’s 29-20 defeat to South Africa.
While Curry has successfully completed the graduated return to play protocols, Feyi-Waboso remains unfit and is not included in the 36-man training squad announced by Steve Borthwick.
Tom Curry sustained a concussion injury against Australia
Curry will replace Charlie Ewels in the group that gathered at England’s Surrey training base on Tuesday, with Cadan Murley stepping in for Elliot Daly, who is battling an unspecified injury.
Aside from the changes necessitated by Daly’s absence and Curry’s return, Borthwick has kept the same players who have been present throughout the autumn.
England must overcome Japan to avoid a whitewash this month and with Eddie Jones’ Japan being ranked 13th globally, Borthwick is expected to make only minor alterations to his starting XV.
