Drivers thinking about buying a new or have been the results of a new study finding the most reliable vehicle brands on the market.
Whilst the quality of cars has improved significantly over the years, owners of certain models have still that have caused their vehicle to spend time off the road being repaired.
According to the consumer motoring publication , who received feedback from nearly 30,000 drivers, the brand with the is MG, with a reliability score of 76.9%.
The historically British brand is now owned by the Chinese car giant SAIC and focuses on producing a range of petrol, hybrid, and electric models that offer good value for money.
However, according to the study, some owners have stated that they , with MG only paying for 55% of the fixes reported in the study, and long periods of time where their vehicle was off the road.

Another car brand that What Car?’s study highlighted was Alfa Romeo, with the famous Italian performance brand receiving a reliability score of 84.1%.
However, Alfa Romeo’s reliability could improve over time with the company’s latest models, such as the Junior compact crossover, using proven Stellantis platforms and mechanicals.
Similarly, the Stellantis-owned brand Vauxhall ranked third in the study, receiving a slightly better reliability score of 84.7%.

Nevertheless, What Car?’s study also praised a number of car brands for their solid track record for dependability. The survey of drivers found that the most reliable vehicle company is Mini.
The BMW-owned brand who builds a number of their compact models in Oxford received a score of 98.3%, with the most reliable car in the range said to be the Countryman SUV, featuring a near-perfect score of 99.7%.
Japanese car companies also ranked well in the study, with Lexus coming second with a score 97.9%, Suzuki in third place with 97.7%, Honda ranking fourth at 96.6%, and Toyota in fifth with 96.1%.
