is due to receive a huge payout for her appearance this year – and after spending so much of the show’s budget on securing her, they were keen to keep her appearance a surprise until the last minute.
Express.co.uk can reveal that the code-name used for Coleen was “Marple” – a nod to the so-called “Wagatha Christie” trial that unfolded last year between herself and fellow WAG . Back then, the press and public had playfully branded the footballer’s wife “Wagatha” after she went on a mission to prove that Vardy was the woman leaking the contents of her private posts.
Marple is not just the name of a town in Stockport, Greater Manchester. It’s also the name of a fictional woman created by detective thriller novellist Agatha Christie, who helps local police solve mysteries.
It became the perfect code-name to describe the high-profile signing. According to a source published in : “Bosses at were desperate to keep Coleen’s signing a secret for as long as they possibly could.
“She’s the biggest and best for years and they broke the bank to get her, so they wanted to keep schtum on it until the last minute. They come up with a codename for all the contestants, and sometimes it’s something to do with that particular person,” they added.

Coleen Rooney had an intriguing codename
“The choice for Coleen was apt and it would take someone with her detective skills to work it out.”
Coleen reportedly wasn’t the only celebrity to be kept under wraps that way, with Jane Moore receiving the code-name “Moon” and former boxing champ Barry McGuigan being branded “Cyclones”.
In his case, his name was a nod to his former nickname, “The Clones Cyclone”, a reference to the town in Ireland where he was born.
Meanwhile, McFly boyband star Danny Jones received the nickname “Rocket”.

Agatha Christie’s character Miss Marple, played by Joan Hickson
Despite the recent court case between Coleen and Rebekah being so high profile, the former is determined not to allow it to define her.
She confirmed in an interview ahead of entering the jungle: “That’s a place that I’ve been, I’ve dealt with it. In my life now, I’m just moving forward and not looking back.
“There are more important things to think about with the family and kids.”
She has also shaken off her nickname, saying she no longer wants an association to Agatha Christie.
“I think I’d rather just be known as Coleen from Liverpool,” she asserted firmly.
