There’s no chance will sign up to Strictly Come Dancing, says former judge .

Troubled Schofield tried to relaunch his career by appearing on Channel 5 show Castaway where he reflected on his departure from This Morning after he was forced to step down.

But his comeback has been mired in controversy with viewers and celebrities, including , blasting the star’s bid to return to the screen.

When asked if Phillip might sign up to Strictly, Arlene said: “Frankly, that would be three hours of my life wasted.

“I’ve known Phillip from early, early days when he was just a kid.

“Can he dance? You’ve got to go on Strictly because you want to dance and I don’t think that’s what would want to do. I don’t think it’s an option.”

In May last year how, Phillip had “agreed to step down” from This Morning after more than 20 years in order to “protect the show that I love”.

In reality he had been forced to step down and had been fielding increasing questions about his relationship with an ITV runner and denying that anything had happened between them.

But days after being forced off the show, he admitted lying about the affair with the younger male which led to his resignation from ITV, crashing his career.

He admitted at the time: “I did have a consensual on-off relationship with a younger male colleague at This Morning. That relationship was unwise but not illegal. It is now over.”

Arlene, who has known Phillip for years, believes that the truth of what happened may never be known.

It comes as it was claimed this week that Schofield’s future on This Morning was doomed from the minute refused to publicly support him as his career imploded.

A friend of the former ITV star has alleged that the lack of backing from his co-host in the aftermath of his brother’s child sex convictions meant viewers no longer believed in their on-screen chemistry.

Schofield, 62, had also convinced himself that Holly and a This Morning executive had conspired against him. And he scolded her via Whatsapp the day before news of his This Morning axe became public.

The pal said: “As well as saying she had brought him down, he said he couldn’t believe his TV sister would do this to him.”Schofield asked Holly, 43, for a public show of support such as a statement or picture of them together in the hope it would diffuse media claims of a fallout between the pair. But his plea was ignored.

The friend added: “He feels it was a simple gesture that might have saved his job and her refusal to do so effectively finished him off. Believing in the TV chemistry was the bedrock of the This Morning format.”

Holly reportedly told Schofield that she did not want to “feed the narrative” and that ITV bosses did not want her to publicly respond.

After he sent her the Whatsapp, Holly is said to have replied that she was in the dark about what was going on, the pal said. But Schofield was so upset that he later messaged two ITV chiefs to complain about her, the friend claims.

In another report, it is claimed that Phil now brands Holly, once one of his closest friends, as “the witch”. He even uses a hatted hag’s emoji when discussing her with pals if she comes up.
