Here’s how to wash your jeans
How often do you wash your jeans? There’s always been a debate on how often you should put them in the washing machine.
But did you know you’re not actually meant to put them in the washing machine? According to one cleaning fan, if you want to look after an expensive pair you shouldn’t put them in the machine.
Content creator David Zakwan on says you should instead hand wash your jeans. In his video he said: “A lot of people don’t know that your jeans are not supposed to go in the washing machine.
“Especially if they’re on the pricier side. So, I’m going to show you how to hand wash them.”
He went on to explain you should fill up a tub with water and then empty out your jeans pockets.
Next you need to turn your jeans inside out. Next, you drop your washing up detergent in the tub with the jeans, this can be a capsule.
Don’t miss… [UPDATE]
He adds that you don’t need to rub the jeans together, you can just shake them about. Rubbing them together might damage the material.
Leave the jeans in the water for around 15 minutes, then you can put a full bottle of water on top of the jeans to make sure they don’t float up.
After 15 minutes you can drain out the water and then spray the jeans with the shower head with fresh water.
Then you can lightly squeeze out the water, as well as use a towel to pat dry the jeans. Finally you can let the jeans dry by hanging.
Experts at GAP clothing store revealed last year not to wash denim too often. “Over-washing can damage embellishments like sequins and beads, so we recommend only washing clothing with these details when an item is truly dirty.
“In most cases, giving clothing a small spot wash, or a good airing out by hanging on a washing line for a few hours, will give clothing the boost it needs to be worn again.
“Despite denim being a hard-wearing fabric, it’s also recommended to wash this fabric as little as possible, even as little as every 10 wears.”
