An American has said this UK item needs to make an appearance in the US
An American food enthusiast has sampled a variety of UK menu items, expressing his desire to take one particular item back home with him.
The food item in question is not available in US outlets, according to user @ajslambino.
He was pleasantly surprised by some limited-time offerings in the UK, while others left him less than impressed.
Ordering everything he could that wasn’t available in the US, the foodie prepared to sample the rich tomato dip, a double barbecue quarter pounder with cheese, and something he had never seen before – “garlic cheese bites.”
Among the food haul was a Galaxy ice cream and a small portion of chips. Regarding the rich tomato dip, he said: “It doesn’t smell like ketchup so I don’t know what it is. It came with the cheesy bites so I’m thinking it’s tomato sauce.”

After trying the dip and cheesy bite, the American was thrilled with the taste, exclaiming: “Oh my God, why don’t we have these in America? They’re amazing.”
However, he was less enthusiastic about the fries, which “tasted like fries,” and did little more than elicit a shrug.
Interestingly, the mayo chicken burger seemed to be on the US menu after all. “We just call it a chicken sandwich,” he noted, drawing a closer link between the US and UK McDonald’s menus, until he tasted the double barbecue quarter pounder with cheese.
Delighted by this premium menu item, @ajslambino added: “The barbecue adds a little kick to it.”

Finally, it was time for dessert. His verdict was overwhelmingly positive, and he has since urged the American brand to incorporate some of the UK menu items.
“We got to get on this s*** here,” he declared. Comments left on the seemed to concur with his assessment of the UK McDonald’s experience.
One user penned: “I’ve just travelled across America and I can honestly say UK Maccies s***s all over US Maccies.”
Others have commented on the similarities between the chicken sandwiches, with UK food lovers being offered a “budget” version. One comment read: “Mayo chicken is a budget chicken sandwich but it at least gives us options.”
Another added: “Chicken mayo is the ‘snack/cheap’ menu version of the McChicken sandwich, which we also have [SIC].”
