A popular motoring personality has taken to YouTube to recommend a that still looks attractive and is available from as little as £2,500.

Adam Morris is one of the presenters on the Australian motoring channel , regularly fronting videos in which he offers advice to help viewers .

In , Adam takes a look around a Honda CR-Z, an that has a surprisingly modern powertrain for a car first seen more than 10 years ago.

He explained: “What a weird and interesting little car the Honda CR-Z is. Interestingly, when these were brand spanking new, the world’s motoring press absolutely loved them, they raved about the driving experience.

“It’s really important to understand just how ahead of its time this car was. Firstly, it’s a small two door sportscar with a 1.5-litre , with either a manual or CVT. That’s the sort of that we’re only just starting to see become popular in cars now, and this thing first landed on our shores back in 2011.”

Built from 2011 to 2016, the Honda CR-Z was a successor to the iconic CR-X coupe of the 1980s and 90s, featuring several similar styling cues.

All models came with a 1.5 hybrid powertrain, allowing the CR-Z to accelerate from 0-62mph in 10 seconds and reach a top speed of 124mph, whilst also averaging an impressive 56.5mpg on a mix of roads.

While the Honda was never the best-selling coupe, there are still a few examples remaining, with prices spanning from £2,500 for a useable early example to around £5,000 for a low-mileage, high-spec model.

Inside, despite the seats being somewhat uncomfortable for long-haul journeys, Adam highlighted that the Honda CR-Z is well designed.

He added: “I personally love the design of this interior. First of all, the seating position is excellent, you sit so low and hunkered down in the car, and it kind of wraps around you. Once small ergonomic thing, though, the screen is so far away. I’m pretty tall and that’s a full arm length to get to, so if you’re short it’s going to be a challenge.

“Also, I agree with a lot of the owners that the seats themselves could be more supportive. In fact, some owners have hunted down the optional Recaro seats that came in the Japanese CR-Z, and that would make a massive difference.”

Although Adam recommended the CR-Z to anyone considering a slightly unusual yet economical used car, the YouTuber advised potential buyers to check the door handles for faults.

He advised: “This is arguably the most common issue with the exterior, it’s the door handles. Now, especially in hot climates, the door handles can just get hard to use or even stop working altogether.

“Now, the good news is they are pretty cheap and easy to fix, and it’s a fun do-it-yourself project. Hot tip, jump on the owner’s groups, because there are loads of great tutorials and advice on there.”
