Sunday Brunch star Simon Rimmer’s ‘hygiene’ questioned by guest during cooking segment

TV chef Simon Rimmer was left stunned when a Sunday Brunch guest questioned his hygiene during the latest episode of the Channel 4 show.

During the episode on Sunday, October 6, Simon was cooking in front of the celebrity line up which included comedians Josh Widdicombe and Jenny Eclair.

The chef started stirring cornflour and water together in a glass bowl with his index finger to make a paste to thicken his dish that was bubbling away on the hob.

As he blended the cornflower and water he said: “Just work your finger through there…” before co-host Tim Lovejoy interjected: “Nice, that’s attractive,” much to laughs from Simon and the guests. “I’m going to get you a spoon. I want you to use a spoon instead of your finger,” added Tim.

But Jenny was impressed with the method saying: “I like a man cooking with his fingers. It kind of harks back doesn’t it to the old days?” Josh quipped: “Before hygiene?” to the amusement of the rest of the line up. The comedian continued: “The worst thing is you literally ran in from the toilet just before – we all watched it.”

Simon clapped back laughing: “I washed my hands before I went to the toilet though!”

Don’t miss…

Elsewhere on the show, Celebs Go Dating favourite Tom Read Wilson couldn’t resist highlighting Tim’s decision to wear glasses.

He commented: “This is my first time here where you’ve had ocular framing.” A little confused at first, Tim queried: “What does that – oh glasses!”

“Very becoming. Very”, Tom playfully remarked, prompting a bashful Tim to murmur: “Oh thank you very much.”

Though Tom wasn’t about to leave it there as he gushed: “You’re like a lovely Pinot noir, you just get better and better.”

Attempting to brush off the focus, Tim could only muster an “OK” whilst Simon insisted Tom continue, enjoying the visible discomfort it caused Tim.

Fellow guest Josh noted: “Tim’s moved further away,” resulting in laughter all round. Tom then confessed to Josh: “He makes me go rather gooey, I have to say.”

Following some awkward silence, Tim admitted: “OK. I don’t like compliments,” before Tom turned his attention to Josh and Jenny’s glasses too, exclaiming “There’s some pretty fabulous ocular framing going on here.”
