Prince William wasn’t happy with Harry and Meghan’s comments
After and Meghan Markle left the royal family in 2020, the couple remained largely quiet at first about their motivations for leaving the Royal Family.
It was in a 2021 bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex opened up about their reasons for stepping down.
In the TV interview, Meghan told Oprah there were “concerns and conversations about how dark [Archie’s] skin might be when he was born”.
Harry also spoke about the “colonial undertones” of news headlines and articles which were never talked about within the family, and asked by Oprah if they left because of racism, Harry replied: “It was a large part of it.”
The comments caused a media frenzy and was asked to respond to the allegations, which he did when questioned by reporters on an engagement days after the interview aired.
