BBC News star quits after four years
BBC News star Karishma Patel has decided to call it quits for pastures new as she made a short but sweet announcement.
The newsreader was inundated with love and support from friends, fans and colleagues as she shared the news that she had accepted a new job, meaning that her four and a half year tenure at the was coming to an end.
Karishma shared a snap of her broadcasting live on Radio 5 Live to her X (formerly Twitter) account, as she captioned the post: “Goodbye to @BBCNews after 4 and a half years of newsreading, reporting, and producing.”
She offered an explanation for her sudden departure, adding: “I’m off to a non-profit called the , where I’ll be their Senior Social Media Engagement Officer – taking care of all things social media journalism related!”
In a second post, Karishma added: “This, of course, comes after many months covering Gaza for @bbc5live as a Middle East specialist. I’m keen to continue the work.”

Fellow journalist and newsreader Jo Hornby was one of the first commenters to wish her well, writing: “Good luck lovely, we miss you!”
Her followers also wished her well, with one saying: “Incredible news! Mabrook and congratulations!!! BPMC are lucky to have you, we all are.” Another added: “Congrats! Looking forward to following your work there.”
Karishma previously entered the as she tried her hand at beauty pageants.
Speaking about her day to day work in her video application, the newsreader said: “I work in broadcast journalism which allows me to expose injustice where I see it and I do have a very strong humanitarian ethos.”

She added: “For the past two summers I’ve worked with a school in India providing a free education to under privileged children in order to break the cycle of poverty and provide them with more opportunities.”
She’s the latest star to exit the broadcaster after a string of other exits from the cooperation.
Back in July, Sean Rafferty quit his Radio 3 show, and the ‘s Global Health Correspondent quit at the start of the summer. newscaster Aaron Heslehurst has also departed the channel after more than 22 years.
