Jenna Bush Hager’s family has a new cat!
The fourth hour of TODAY co-host revealed Oct. 3 on the show that the family adopted their new kitten — but they haven’t yet decided on her name.
Jenna shared a photo of her daughter Mila, 11, smiling as she hugged the kitten in a car. “The new kitty has made it home. The new kitty slept with Mila Hager,” she told Hoda Kotb.
As for the kitten’s name, “Well, it’s not up to me,” said Jenna. “It’s up to Mila.”
Jenna added that the “breaking news” from her home this morning is that Mila had narrowed her choices down to two names: Mocha Spice Latte Hager (or Mo, for short) or Mazie Moo Hager (who would get the nickname MaeMae).
News of the new kitty’s arrival comes just a day after Jenna shared that Mila’s beloved cat, Hollywood, went missing over the summer.
“It was kind of my fault,” Jenna told Hoda.
Hollywood, or Holly, slipped out of the family’s home during a birthday party when children were coming and going out of the front door.
Mila, said Jenna, had been devastated ever since, at one point spending three nights grieving alongside her mom in her mom’s bed.
“(Mila) loved that cat … She walked around cradling that cat,” Jenna said of Hollywood, who was a Christmas gift for Mila in December 2022.
Jenna and husband Henry Hager, who are also parents to daughter Poppy, 9, and son Hal, 5, had “done everything” to find Holly before making the decision to welcome a new cat into their home.
“On Sunday we went and met a little baby kitty, which Mila is going to be adopting,” Jenna said on the Oct. 2 broadcast.
“So we’re going to have a new member of our household, and hopefully Holly will come smell that little kitty and be like, ‘Who’s getting in there with my parents!?’”
The adorable kitten isn’t the only new feline in the family.
Earlier this year, Poppy got a kitten named Mango.
