The closures will allow for TransLink, which manages the bridge, to inspect the span’s railing and underside using a snooper truck, which takes up multiple lanes of traffic.
The Pattullo Bridge will undergo nighttime closures over the next week to allow for testing and repairs.
The work begins with a full closure to both directions of travel on Sunday, Oct. 6, at 10 p.m. before reopening at 5 a.m. to allow for daytime traffic.
On Monday, Oct. 7, and Wednesday, Oct. 9, the bridge’s southbound lanes into Surrey will close at 10 p.m. and reopen at 5 a.m.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Oct. 8, and Thursday, Oct. 10, the bridge’s northbound lanes into New Westminster will close at 10 p.m. and reopen at 5 a.m.
The closures will allow for TransLink, which manages the bridge, to inspect the span’s railing and underside using a snooper truck, which takes up multiple lanes of traffic.
The continuing maintenance also allows for testing of the bridge’s seismic early warning and wind monitoring system.
Pattullo Bridge users can instead take the Port Mann or Alex Fraser bridges, while the N19 NightBus will be rerouted over the Alex Fraser and Queensborough bridges. Pedestrians, cyclists and first responders will still be able to use the bridge during the lane closures.
