Lorraine admits ‘I was horrible’ as family member makes rare apparance on ITV show

Lorraine Kelly opened up about her mischievous past on her ITV talk show, admitting “I was horrible” as the programme took a surprise turn to honour her 40 years in television.

Christine Lampard and Ranvir Singh, Lorraine’s regular stand-ins, commandeered the show, leaving the veteran presenter clueless about the planned festivities and special guests.

In an unexpected twist, Lorraine’s younger brother Graham made a rare TV appearance, popping up on the studio screen behind her, which left the beloved TV host utterly astonished.

Overcome with emotion, Lorraine gasped and laughed, confessing to the audience: “I was horrid to him.” She reminisced with her brother, saying: “I was horrible – you were just an angel.”

Lorraine then turned to Christine, revealing her childhood jealousy: “I mean, I was six years old when Graham came along and I was a spoilt princess,” reports .

The celebrated presenter continued to share fond memories: “He came along and he was the most beautiful baby you’d ever seen in your life with the biggest blue eyes and chubby cheeks you wanted to bite.

“I think I probably did sadly,” she admitted, recalling how strangers would compliment her brother’s looks to their mother, something she heard “People would stop my mother in the street as she told me one hundred times to say ‘how gorgeous’ he was.”

Lorraine then owned up to her youthful antics: “But I was horrible to you, I used to nip you didn’t I?”

Before Graham could reply, Christine chimed in: “We got over that though, didn’t we,” to which Graham responded with humour: “The trade-off was I got to learn a lot about good music, I pretty much know every word to every David Bowie song off by heart.”

After a momentous year, the new grandma has experienced a real whirlwind, welcoming her first grandchild and marking a remarkable 40 years on British TV – amidst which an ITV special documentary will honour her “40 unforgettable years.”

Lorraine also graced Good Morning Britain with her presence on Wednesday, alongside and Ed Balls, dropping a few hints about the forthcoming tribute.

She admitted to her colleagues that she was in the dark, saying: “You know I come on here and tell you what is happening because I’ve got no idea.”

In a playful banter, Susanna quipped back: “Has your programme been hijacked?” Quick to affirm, Lorraine confirmed: “Yes, it’s been hijacked by two very special women.”

Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV, from 9am.
