Good Morning Britain viewers ‘switch off’ as Nigel Farage interview sparks uproar

Good Morning Britain viewers were less than impressed during Wednesday’s instalment of the ITV show.

It comes after presenters and Ed Balls spoke to Reform UK leader about a potential deal between his party and whoever would be elected as the new Conservative leader.

However, things got slightly heated when speaking about the riots that happened in July, which were triggered by the tragedy in Southport.

Susanna said: “You have been criticised by a number of people, including conservative party leadership candidate Tom Tugendhat for being irresponsible and dangerous.

“He accuses you of amplifying false information when you suggested, in a video by the way, that police withheld the truth about the person alleged to be behind this tragedy.”

The ITV star highlighted that there is a legal process going on at the moment and doesn’t want to compromise anything.

Although Nigel cut in as he said: “We always hide behind that don’t we?”

After a brief silence, Susanna replied: “That’s the rule of law in this country, that we don’t compromise someone’s fair trial and allow the families of those who have suffered to hear the truth.”

He replied: “And we hide behind this again and again and again.”

Susanna was taken aback by his remark, as she was curious about why he accused her of hiding behind the law.

As he started to explain his reasonings, she was shaking her head in disbelief as he called her out for doing so.

She said: “I’m absolutely shaking my head, you repeated misinformation that the suspect was under surveillance, you asked whether the truth is being withheld from us?”

He commented: “Well of course it’s being withheld!”

While the two continued to clash, it wasn’t long before people watching took to Twitter to share their thoughts, with many unimpressed.

One person tweeted: “Farage has no answer to careful, persistent questioning. Car crash.” (sic) Another added: “Why is on GMB again?”

Someone else quipped: ” – completely out of his depth.”

While one viewer commented: “Embarrassed himself during that interview.”

“GMB is unbearable this morning Farage spouting his nonsense,” fumed another.

However, some were unimpressed with how the two presenters spoke to Nigel, and one person commented, “Susanna is being so rude! Rude I’m going to switch over her and Ed are so rude not good interviewers.”

Good Morning Britain continues weekdays on ITV from 6am.
