East Croydon station stabbing LIVE: Tram services blocked as man rushed to hospital

A man has been rushed to hospital following a horrific at East Croydon Station in London. 

The attack took place on George Street and a police cordon has been set up in the area. 

London Tramlink services between East Croydon and Reeves Corner were suspended as officers investigated the scene. 

Paramedics arrived on the scene within five minutes of the incident occurring and took the victim to a major trauma centre “as a priority”. 

London Ambulance Service said in a statement: “We were called at 1.53pm today (Tuesday 1 October) to reports of an incident in George Street, Croydon. We sent resources to the scene, including ambulance crews and an incident response officer.

“The first of our crews arrived in five minutes. Our crews treated a man at the scene, before taking him to a London major trauma centre as a priority.”

What we know so far

Scotland Yard has confirmed that the victim was a 23 year old male who remains unnamed.

Police were called at 13:55 to George Street, Croydon.

The attacker remains at large as police say ” There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.”
