To help prevent heat escaping from the roof, an insulation roll that has a thickness of 200mm is encouraged.

The Energy Saving Trust stated, for a gas-heated semi-detached house, that topping up insulation from nothing to 270mm could save you £200 per year.

Switch it off

Replace regular bulbs around the home with LEDS (saving you £23 per year) and make sure to turn lights off when not using them.

Reducing water usage

One of the “easiest switches” you can do is to opt for a water-saving shower head to reduce water usage by up to 50 percent “without compromising on performance”.

Doing so can save a typical household up to £25 off their gas bill, and £35 off their water bill each year.
