Daniel Ricciardo gets second job offer since F1 sack and could be immediately back in work

is being courted for a new career in the iconic Australian V8 Supercars championship after departing in the aftermath of the .

The eight-time Grand Prix winner was dropped by to make room for Liam Lawson, who is seen as a potential future team-mate for at . This news left Ricciardo at a crossroads with no alternative F1 opportunities on the table.

It didn’t take long for Ricciardo to get his first job offer after leaving the F1 grid. On the F1 Nation podcast, boss revealed: “We’ve made it very clear that we want him to remain in an ambassadorial capacity with the team.”

Whether or not this will be of any interest to Ricciardo remains to be seen. The 35-year-old made it clear after the race in Singapore that he has no plans to return to the test and reserve driver role that he assumed after departing at the end of the 2022 campaign.

Fortunately, Ricciardo now has the opportunity to race full-time again. In an interview with , Supercars chief Shane Howard opened the door for the former driver to make the move back to his home country.

“I think everyone would welcome Daniel with open arms, absolutely,” Howard said. “Would we like to see in a Supercar? 100 per cent. Just imagine if he could be in one of our cars and race in a new street race in Perth, that would be something special, wouldn’t it?

“It would be massive. He is such an incredible driver and such an incredible personality and people just absolutely love him. Imagine him racing at Bathurst, wow. That would be very cool indeed.

“At an appropriate time, we would reach out to Daniel and his management. Blake Friend in his management team used to work for us at Supercars. At the right time, we would reach out, but we would certainly like to have him in one of our cars, 100 per cent we would.”

The Supercars championship is among the world’s premier touring car competitions and is the home of the Bathurst 1000, one of the most prestigious motorsport events in the world.

Ricciardo wouldn’t be guaranteed instant success in the championship either. Recent alumni include Shane van Gisbergen and Scott McLaughlin, who have followed up their immense Supercars careers with success in the and respectively.
