Married At First Sight UK was a hotbed of drama on Monday night, with contestant Caspar Todd declaring he was ‘done’. The latest episode saw expert Mel Schilling confront Caspar over his body-shaming comments towards wife Emma Barnes during their honeymoon.
Viewers will remember the shock when Caspar admitted to Emma that he didn’t find her attractive, saying: “I’ve been struggling, I don’t know if you’ve felt it. But I haven’t felt that spark I was hoping to feel,” He then told her she reminded him too much of his sister and delivered one of the worst insults in the show’s history when asked about his “usual type”.
“I’ve rarely gone for the curvier person,” he confessed. When Emma asked if he found her sexy, Caspar replied: “No.”
Stunned, she asked: “So you didn’t fancy me and you don’t fancy me, right?” Caspar did himself no favours with his blunt response: “Not currently no, let’s be honest.”
Emma later expressed her hurt, stating: “I’m a size 14. I’m not a f***ing monster,” reports .
Married At First Sight UK was full of explosive scenes on Monday night
In Monday’s episode, expert Mel confronted Caspar about his honeymoon comments, to which he admitted: “I didn’t set out in this experiment to hurt my wife and on the honeymoon I did that.”
During a fiery interview, Caspar was called out by Mel who questioned: “Of all the things you could have said to her, why do you think you chose her body to focus on? ” Caspar’s response only added fuel to the fire as he confessed: “It was my honest truth, I didn’t want to lie. What I like generally in women is someone who is slightly slimmer. That, I said the truth.”

Mel probed deeper, asking: “Tell me Caspar, what do you say to yourself about your own body when you look in the mirror?” and Caspar revealed his self-criticism, admitting: “I see all the bad bits.”
Highlighting a potential hypocrisy, Mel pressed on: “Is it interesting to you then that you chose that particular issue, a person’s body image, to attack in Emma? Do you see that it’s a double standard?”
On being grilled, Caspar expressed his exasperation off-camera, remarking: “F**k’s sake, I thought that the comments I made on the honeymoon had been put to bed and we’re moving on. If they keep coming up, I’m done!”
Despite the tension, back at the session Caspar acknowledged the double standards in his behaviour, while Mel aimed to move past the honeymoon incident, encouraging: “I really want to start with a clean slate with the two of you” and urging the couple to exchange compliments.
