The nation already knows that no longer has the friendship she once shared with , after he was left and later admitted his “unwise but not illegal” affair with a colleague decades younger than him.
However, how much did you know about the spats he’s had with other celebrities over the years? For instance, always staunchly denied rumours that she was unhappy about a “pay-gap” between herself and Phillip.
However, he revealed in his autobiography, Life Is What You Make It, that he believed a stormy row between the pair was the reason for her quitting the show. In 2009, after seven years alongside her co-star, she called time on the partnership.
Phillip claimed they had a “blazing” row, during which she accused him of “meddling” in the show. The “stunned” TV fave says he “walked back into the makeup room and calmly said, ‘Please don’t do that to me again.'”
However, the damage was already done. “I think, for whatever reason, that was the point Fern decided she didn’t want to do This Morning any more,” he confessed.

Almost a decade later, their relationship still seemed frostier than ever, with the long period of separation appearing not to have smoothed things over.
They reconnected publicly when Fern returned to the show via video link to celebrate its 30th birthday, and she quickly made the accusation that she’d been excluded from the BAFTAs when an important gong was awarded.
“That was absolutely wonderful and brilliant. I would have loved to have been there but I didn’t get an invitation,” she swiped.
Phillip retorted that she had been performing on stage in Scotland, but she fired back: “I wasn’t on [that] night. I would’ve come.”

Not keen to end the verbal tussle, Phillip then took to social media to exclaim: “Odd really, because she was invited and declined #memoryloss we’d have loved her to be there. A vital and much loved part of the show.”
It was later confirmed that Fern’s agents had declined the invitation on her behalf, believing she would have been too busy to fit it into her schedule.
Meanwhile, though Fern has reminisced on Twitter multiple times about her friendship with , whom she’s known since they were both “babies” in the 1980s, Eamonn and Phil have never made a secret of their distaste for each other.
In 2022, Eamonn accused Phillip of “snubbing” people and took offence at a previous occasion when he’d appeared to interrupt his wife Ruth Langsford on air.
More recently, he insisted Phillip “deserved to be in exile”, adding on GB News of his claim he was “thrown under the bus”: “Well, if I’m one of the people who threw him under the bus I am very proud to have done it and protected children.”
