was due to appear at the Southbank Centre for her Live and Outspoken event on the 21st of September. However, the host cancelled the event just hours before, angering fans.

In her latest social media post comments, her followers continued to share they felt “let down” by the late notice given by the venue.

One commented: “Southbank book launch was a no show. Bit disappointed.”

A second remarked: “Carol you are amazing but I can’t pretend I’m not disappointed that we didn’t get to see you at the Southbank on Saturday. Me and my sister built a whole day around it – hopefully you’re feeling better, and we’re not owed an explanation but an email at 4:30pm from the venue, no note from you, was a bit late in the day.

“My sister came down to London for the day. I feel a bit let down tbh,” they added.

In a post on Twitter shared at 4.45pm on the Southbank Centre’s Twitter account, just hours before Carol was due to appear, they shared: “We’re sorry to say that tonight’s event, Carol Vorderman Live and Outspoken, has been cancelled due to illness.

“Ticket bookers have been emailed with details on obtaining a refund.”

In response to the post, one explained that they had already arrived at the venue as they hoped Carol “was ok”.

Carol did not share any more details about her illness, but last week she set her account on Twitter to private following backlash over her comments on the Labour Party.

The TV star, a staunch advocate for the party during the election, appeared to do a dramatic U-turn as she slammed party leader Sir after he announced cuts to Winter fuel payments for some pensioners.

A total of 348 MPs backed Starmer’s plans to cut the payment, compared to the 228 who voted in opposition to the proposals.

The cuts will affect millions of pensioners, as Labour vows to implement restrictions that will make only the poorest pensioners eligible for the benefit.

Carol tweeted: “Genuinely, I don’t understand why they’ve done it. I do understand why you wouldn’t pay the wealthy pensioners…”

“I’ll be one of those in two years. So I wouldn’t need the winter fuel allowance payment.

“But to go from 12 million to less than two million pensioners receiving it is just way too low.

“And I’m shocked by it because they could raise that money in so many other ways… for instance, a few years ago in one tax year, 255 private equity managers ‘earned’ £2.7 billion between them, and they didn’t pay 45 per cent tax as every employee who’s earning a decent amount of money would pay.”
