More than 30 people have been injured after two buildings were set on fire before a van was driven into two shops in Essen, Germany.
Eight children were injured in the incident, with a number reported to be in critical condition.
Footage captured at the scene shows neighbours helping children down from the roof of one of the residential buildings that had been set ablaze.
Another clip shows a man stepping out of a van wielding what appears to be a machete.
A Syrian man is reported to have been arrested following the incident, which took place shortly after 5pm on Saturday.
