Lulu’s cryptic career announcement as she prepares to retire from touring

has hinted at her next career move just months after from touring her . The ‘Relight My Fire’ singer is set to bow out from performing live after completing an extended run of dates in November.

In 1964, Lulu released her debut single ‘Shout’ when she was just 15 years old. Six decades later, the 75-year-old veteran is gearing up to perform a handful of shows as part of her extended Champagne For Lulu tour.

Following her retirement reveal in February, the favourite has spoken to about what she plans to do next. Last Friday (September 20), the pop star – who was born Marie McDonald McLaughlin Lawrie – sat in with the 51-year-old DJ on .

Scott, who was covering the Breakfast Show at the time, asked his guest whether she had any creative projects in the pipeline “Just quickly, everyone’s doing it at the moment… Robbie [Williams], Celine [Dion], the … are you doing a documentary?,” he probed.

“Oh, yes. I think so,” Lulu admitted. “I am – in the works, it’s in the works. I can’t say anything more because it’s not done yet but yeah, that’s on the cards.”

After refusing to say anything else about a possible documentary chronicling her rise to fame, the ‘I’m A Tiger’ hitmaker spoke candidly about an upcoming memoir she has planned.

“I’m absolutely writing a memoir – I mean, I’m not writing it myself and I wouldn’t pretend to do that, but it’s because I have so many moments I can talk about,” she gushed to the broadcaster.

“And I wouldn’t say I’ve lied or told fibs, but I was never… I think I’m gonna be more… it is about honesty but truthful without being a kiss-and-tell book.”

“[It’s] more vulnerable than I’ve – I’m very talkative but I’m actually quite private so I will open up and talk about things that maybe are relatable and helpful maybe to young women,” she added. “I think that’s who it’s mainly directed at.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Lulu opened up about how she feels about hitting the road for one last run.

“The thing about doing this tour is that it sold out, it was kind of emotional because I’m just not going to do touring the way I’ve done it before – cramming the dates in etc,” she explained.

“Jesus, give me a break! I’m 75! It’s the travelling – when I’m on the stage, I’m at home – but the travelling that goes with it is exhausting.

“So I said I’m not doing this again (although) I will never stop working.”

Lulu is set to begin her extended run of Champagne For Lulu tour dates in Torquay on November 3. She will go on to grace venues such as Portsmouth’s Guildhall (November 4), Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall (November 6) and Connexin Live in Hull (November 7).

On November 9, she will perform at the Liverpool Empire before making her way up to Edinburgh’s Usher Hall the following evening (November 10).

Her final run of dates include nights at the Brighton Dome (November 12), Leeds’ Grand Theatre (November 13) and the Regent Theatre in Ipswich (November 15).

Lulu will then call time on her 60-year music career by performing at The Cliffs Pavilion in Southend-On-Sea (November 18).
