King Charles opened up about his late mother’s passion for Balmoral.

“My late mother especially treasured the time spent at Balmoral, and it was there, in the most beloved of places, where she chose to spend her final days,” he said.

The Queen also enjoyed visiting Balmoral Castle to take a break from her royal duties.
The had visited Balmoral Castle every summer right until she died for week-long holidays.
She would begin her stay in late July at Craigowan Lodge before moving into the castle once it shut to visitors in August.
The grounds of Balmoral were very dear to the Queen as Prince Philip had proposed marriage to her in the summer of 1946.
The beauty of Scotland also drew the Queen back each time.
Charles said: “Because of its natural beauty, of course, but also because of its strength of character, based as it is on the extraordinary diversity of its peoples, whose range of ideas, skills, energy, passions, and frequently deeply held beliefs, never cease to inspire.”
Balmoral also functioned as a retreat for her family, escaping the public eye and getting away from her Royal duties.
Despite the late having her heart set on Balmoral in her final days she also had concerns.
Princess Anne said in a documentary: “I think there was a moment when she felt it would be more difficult if she died at Balmoral.
“I think we did try to persuade her that shouldn’t be part of the decision-making process. So I hope she felt that was right in the end because we did.”
