Stephen McGann, best known for his role as Dr. Patrick Turner in Call the Midwife, once graced the screens of during the 1990s, bringing a whirlwind of drama with him.

The 61 year old actor has been charming audiences as the affable Dr. Turner on the popular period drama since its inception in 2012. However, before he stepped into the shoes of the compassionate GP in 1960s Poplar, Stephen was stirring up trouble as the philandering Sean Reynolds in .

The Reynolds family certainly made their mark when they first set foot in the Dales in 1999. Sean arrived alongside his wife Angie (Freya Copeland), their son Marc (Anthony Lewis), and daughter Ollie (Vicky Binns).

They were later joined by Sean’s father Len (Peter Martin) following the off-screen demise of his mother Eileen.

After clashing with Chris Tate (Peter Amory) and (Jeff Hordley), Sean quickly found himself on the wrong side of several villagers, and chaos inevitably followed.

In one memorable scene, Sean flies into a rage upon seeing Cain casually enjoying a pint outside The Woolpack, leading to a violent confrontation.

Zak Dingle (Steve Halliwell) attempts to restrain Sean as Sam Dingle (James Hooton) reveals that his brother Cain has been having an affair with Angie Reynolds.

In another dramatic moment, Sean confronts Richie Carter (Glenn Lamont) after suspecting him of also having an affair with his wife, having caught them in a compromising position.

The haulage firm owner, unsurprisingly, ended up parting ways with his wife Angie due to an affair with Lady Tara Thornfield (Anna Brecon), for which Sean was responsible. Despite their initial resistance to romance for the sake of his children Marc and Ollie, Sean and Tara eventually succumbed to their mutual attraction and chose to leave the Dales together to start a new life in Chester.

Stephen’s final scenes as Sean Reynolds were broadcasted in January 2002.

In addition to and Call the Midwife, Stephen has featured in a plethora of popular television shows and films, including Brookside, Bergerac, Streetwise, Catherine the Great, Doctors, The Bill, and Casualty, among others!

Stephen McGann is set to reprise his role as Dr. Turner in the upcoming episode of Call the Midwife on Christmas Day.
