Britain is bracing for a sharp drop in temperatures as an is set to sweep across the country, bringing freezing conditions following a period of .

Weather maps have turned icy blue, signalling an imminent cold front, with temperatures expected to plunge as low as -2C in some areas.

According to the latest weather model from , a cold snap will grip the UK starting Saturday, September 28th.

The chilling polar air will push temperatures well below average for this time of year, with much of the country experiencing colder-than-usual conditions.

The cold front comes on the heels of that impacted several regions across the UK, particularly in Scotland and northern England.

Heavy rains have already caused significant disruption, and now, the incoming Arctic air could bring even more challenges, such as frosty mornings, icy roads, and potentially hazardous conditions for commuters.

From Newcastle to Birmingham, London to Aberdeen, the temperature anomaly map indicates widespread below-average temperatures, with central parts of England expected to see the sharpest drop.

In some areas, temperatures could dip by up to 8C lower than the average, making the end of September feel particularly wintry.

Regions in the north, including Edinburgh, Newcastle, and Birmingham, are likely to bear the brunt of this early autumn chill.

The temperature could fall to -2C in parts of Scotland and Northern England, leaving residents bracing for the coldest weather they have seen since the start of the season.

Despite the frosty outlook, meteorologists are suggesting that this cold spell may be relatively short-lived.

Temperatures are expected to rebound by early October as high-pressure systems shift.

However, until then, Britons are urged to prepare for winter-like conditions, with widespread frost likely over the weekend.

Experts are advising residents to stay informed, particularly for those in areas previously affected by flooding.
