If you are thinking of buying a tablet but the iPad doesn’t float your boat then has two expansive new slates that could fit the bill. The Galaxy Tab S10 Plus and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra have just been announced with boosts to performance and tons of AI features, but the headline features are surely their enormous displays.

The Tab S10 Plus has a 12.4-inch screen while the Tab S10 Ultra boasts a 14.6-inch screen that’s so big it’s a little like if you snapped the display off your laptop. The difference here is the Tab S10 range runs with these powerful OLED touchscreens also allowing you to write and draw on thanks to Samsung’s S Pen that’s in the box.

Oddly, there is no regular Tab S10, only these Plus and Ultra versions, and unfortunately that is reflected in the pricing. The Plus starts from £999, the same as Apple’s cheapest iPad Pro, while the Ultra costs at least £1199.

If you want a 5G capable Tab S10 to use when there’s no Wi-Fi, you have to pay £150 extra. The top-end Ultra with 1TB storage and 5G costs £1,699 – and remember, you have to pay monthly for your own 5G data plan.

The tablets look remarkably thin, with the Ultra just 5.4mm thick – and the cheaper Plus is only 5.6mm and weighs just 571g. That’s quite light, but the sizes mean these Android machines won’t slip unnoticed into many bags.

If they take an unnoticed slip into a pool or bath though you will likely be safe because Samsung has given the Tab S10 series full IP68 water and dust resistance. That’s great to see on tablets that may take a journey through several family members’ hands and all the rough and tumble that comes with that.

Both displays are coated with anti-reflective tech similar to that seen on the Galaxy S24 Ultra, which should help reduce glare and reflections when you’re on your latest binge. But Samsung also hopes the Tab S10 will be used by professionals as well as sofa sitters, as it pitches both devices as productivity tools for working on – you’ll want to fork out more for one of the keyboard covers if that’s the case.

Predictably all Samsung’s Galaxy AI features are present and correct here, from Circle to Search for image searches of anything on your screen to AI helping you with grammar and tone on your emails to using the S Pen with the Sketch to Image tool that lets you create realistic images out of rough sketches.

If you’re tempted by the Tab S10 Plus or Tab S10 Ultra you’ll be able to buy them in either Moonstone Grey or Platinum Silver from Samsung’s UK website starting on 3 October. You can trade in any tablet in any condition for an automatic £100 discount.
