Vito and actress Ellie Leach, at this year’s NTA’s, were 2023 Strictly winners
star Rose Ayling-Ellis got a surprising boost of support from one of her co-stars as she announced her new venture.
Rose is making an appearance in David Mitchell’s series, which aired earlier this week and follows character John Taylor, played by Mitchell, who learns his twin brother DCI James Taylor has disappeared.
John is encouraged by his sister Lucy (Anna Maxwell Martin) to pretend to be his twin in a bid to discover the truth.
Sharing some snaps on of herself dressed as her mystery character, Rose wrote: “Never did I imagine I would find myself wearing something similar to what my teachers used to wear [laughing emoji]. Enjoy seeing me make a small appearance in Ludwig; all episodes are now available on iPlayer.”
Fans were quick to praise the move and give thumbs up to the look, which saw Rose dressed conservatively in a blue jacket over a floral dress and laced up shoes.
Amongst the commenters was Strictly pro Vito Coppola, who famously won the dance series last year with actress Ellie Leach, assuring the star that he’d be tuning in. He wrote: “I won’t miss it “.
Other fans penned: “Gorgeous girlie no matter what you are wearing. Very different look for sure … such a professional. Can’t wait to see this.”
Another added: “Just keep following your heart rose and you are doing amazing and you look great,” as a third said: “That will be on my list!”
Notably absent was a message from Rose’s former dance partner Giovanni Pernice. In 2021, Rose became the first deaf contestant on ‘s and she and Giovanni won the show.
Giovanni was recently sacked from Strictly after he became embroiled in a bullying row following his 2023 partner Amanda Abbington quit the show after just five weeks. The actress branded Gio, 33, “cruel” and “abusive”.
The dancer has vehemently denied all the allegations.
Don’t miss… [UPDATE]
Rose and Giovanni at the 2022 BAFTAS
Rose, who struck up a friendship with the dancer, is yet to comment directly on the scandal but that she always expects drama but just tends to “ride the wave” of it, adding, “never wait for it to be calm, because it never is.”
Elsewhere in the Q&A, Rose admitted “selfishness” was the most deplorable trait she finds in people and admitted her biggest fear was “loneliness”.
Giovanni has previously vowed to clear his name in the wake of the row. He said: “To my dear fans, you will be as surprised as I am that allegations have been made about my dance teaching methods in the media this week.
“Of course, I reject any suggestion of abusive or threatening behaviour, and I look forward to clearing my name.”
