When Whitney Leavitt found out she was pregnant with her third child, she revealed the news to her family in a unique way.
The “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” star put her positive pregnancy test inside a cake. The scene was featured in the Hulu docuseries, which shows her family surprised (and a little put off) by the act.
In a new interview with The Cut, Leavitt was asked if her family ate the cake.
“Oh, of course we did! We all definitely ate the cake,” she told the outlet.
“Look, I put the lid back on it,” she said. “I Cloroxed the heck out of it before putting it in the cake. It was clean.
“I get how people were like, Ew. Maybe people tried to stay away and not eat the pieces surrounding the test, but that cake was good,” she added. “So yeah, we did eat the cake.”
Leavitt and husband Conner Leavitt are also parents to son Liam and daughter Sedona.
In the “Mormon Wives” episode, the family sits around a table as someone cuts into the cake and they ask if there is anything inside.
“Oh, my … ew, what is that?” Leavitt says, as they take out the pregnancy test from the center of the cake.
“Oh my God, that is disgusting. Why did you put that in the cake?” Leavitt’s sister, Lexi, asks.
In her sit-down interview, Leavitt confirms that it was the actual test she used.
Back in the family scene, as many “ews” are exchanged, Leavitt justifies her actions by saying, “There’s a lid on it.”
Lexi, however, appears disgusted and is worried there’s residue and germs on it.
“I guess I didn’t really think it fully, thoroughly, clearly,” Leavitt says to the camera, stressing, “But the lid is on.”
The moment really elicited a number of reactions from people online.
“WHO PUTS A USED PREGNANCY TEST IN A CAKE?? Whitney is just so… something,” one person wrote on X.
“I am actually FREAKING out that Whitney put her PEED-ON pregnancy test in this cake her family was going to eat. LIKE??? This lady cannot be real,” read a separate post on X.
Another person added, “Whitney is truly diabolical because why would you put THAT pregnancy test in a cake!?”
Many others felt the same way on social media.
Leavitt, however, did use another cake to announce baby news earlier this year. In an April Instagram, she posted a video of cake that read “coming this October 2024…”
She then lights the top of the burn-away cake to reveal the sonogram.
“Can’t wait for our October baby,” she captioned the video.
Most recently, Leavitt and her husband attended the People’s Choice Country Awards in Nashville on Sept. 26. The event marked their first red carpet appearance since the release of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.”
On the navy carpet, the couple told TODAY.com they were looking forward to seeing Miranda Lambert and Keith Urban perform during the award show.
Additionally, while talking to Priscilla Block on “Live From E!: People’s Choice Country Awards,” the pair revealed what they plan on naming their third baby.
