Jeremy Clarkson has revealed the final identity of Top Gear’s Stig.

Perry McCarrthy was already known to have played the original Stig who was ‘killed off’ in an on-air stunt in 2002.

However, after Collins’ left the programme the Stig continued to feature until Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May departed in 2015 and then again on the re-boot until the show ended in 2022.
Ben Collins unveiled he was the Stig in his 2010 book.
His identity was never officially revealed despite widespread speculation among fans on social media.
Clarkson eventually admitted British GT racer Phil Keen was the man involved at a special Q&A event at Clarkson’s Diddly Squat Farm in Chipping Norton.

Towards the end of the half-hour discussion, a member of the crowd shouted out “who was the original Stig”.

Quickly responding, Clarkson said: “The original Stig was Perry McCarthy, followed by Ben Collins. Followed by Phil Keen.
“There isn’t a current Top Gear, so there isn’t a current Stig. But the last one was Phil Keen.”
40-year-old Phil Keen is a hugely successful star in British motorsport having competed in GT cars for two decades.
He has finished runner-up three times in the British GT championship and holds the record for the most wins in the series, 24.
The racer also dabbles in historic racing and has previously got behind the wheel of various classics at the Goodwood Revival.
This includes throwing around a stunning Lotus 30, Lister Knobbly and Jaguar E-Type.
The official confirmation by Clarkson comes over eight years after Matt Le Blanc almost revealed Phil Keen as The Stig shortly after the show’s reboot.
It came as the actor started following the racing star on social media site X, formerly Twitter, shortly after filming began.
The rumours only increased after ex-presenter Rory Reid also began following Keen’s social media accounts.
