Coco Gauff is no longer working with Brad Gilbert.
has been told that former coach Rennae Stubbs “wouldn’t say no” to working with the 20-year-old American after she parted ways with Brad Gilbert.
However, the offer comes only weeks after Stubbs awkwardly criticised Gauff at the while in front of Gilbert. The defending champion crashed out in the last 16 at Flushing Meadows to compatriot Emma Navarro, extending her underwhelming run of form.
Navarro also defeated Gauff in the last 16 of and the latter is back in action for the first time since her New York defeat on Friday (September 27) at the China Open against Clara Burel.
After splitting with Gilbert, Gauff announced that , while on the Asian swing.
It remains to be seen if Daly and Faurel will be Gauff’s only permanent coaching staff moving forward or if she will recruit further before the Australian Open next year, but Stubbs has thrown her hat into the ring.

“Of course, I would do it. I mean I wouldn’t say no to (an) opportunity with a great player, there’s no way. But that’s not a decision for me to make. I love Coco, I think she’s an incredible kid. And I can say kid because she’s like more than half my age.
“I think she’s an incredibly hard worker, I respect the heck out of her. She has only ever been an amazing person to be around. She responds to you, she looks you in the eye.”
Stubbs worked with Karolina Pliskova and Eugenie Bouchard before coaching Williams at the 2022 US Open, the final tournament of her career, and would be a candidate to help take Gauff to the next level.
However, her chances may have taken a hit after she awkwardly slammed Gauff for her most recent defeat to Navarro while standing just a few feet away from her then-coach Gilbert.
“Where is Coco’s confidence?” Stubbs said on an ESPN panel in front of Gilbert. “There’s no second serve, that’s the sign. And that’s a problem.
“So under pressure, bad technique breaks down and her technique is … hard for me to say because Brad is sitting here … but her technique, the elbow, is too low, the grip is a little weird as well.”
