Phillip Schofield will appear in s Cast Away, just 16 months after he sensationally quit his role on . The disgraced presenter revealed this week that he will be taking part in a three-episode series.
The Channel 5 series is set to air on Monday 30th September. However, a celebrity PR specialist has claimed that Phillip’s return to television will likely be a ‘PR disaster.’
Speaking on behalf of Betfred, Celebrity PR Specialist Kayley Cornelius said: “Initial reactions to ’s latest gig on Channel 5’s “Cast Away” are clearly foreshadowing the PR disaster waiting for him when the show airs early next week.
“There was always going to be controversy and backlash surrounding Schofield’s return to TV, but Phil and his team are probably worried about the overwhelming negative response to the news so far and probably coming to realise this comeback may not go as planned.
“Easy oversights are already haunting Phil. The island setting of the series and the poorly timed release have made him the brunt of jokes related to his affair scandal, bringing up old tensions and emotions from viewers as his scandal resurfaces as a hot topic. In PR, timing is everything, and the launch of this show has been seriously misjudged, setting him up to fail in his attempt to return to TV.”

Phillip Schofield will return to our screens next week
The ITV presenter sensationally quit his role on after it emerged he once had an affair with a younger colleague. He also said that his departure had a “catastrophic effect” on his mind and that he “lost everything.”
Kayley added: “Phil has already acknowledged the situation and apologised, but the real test will be how much accountability he takes for his actions in this series.
“If he fails to balance honesty and remorse while also taking responsibility for his past and showing clear signs of change, he’ll struggle to resonate with the people he’s trying to win back.”
